520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Literary sources often present a traditional image of the Roman woman as wife and mother. However a few inscriptions mainly from Roman Africa, mention vast rural estates owned by women. Epigraphic evidence pertaining to evergetism also reveals the existence of important land ownership for many women donors. Lastly an excerpt from Apulius’ De Magia describes his rich wife managing efficiently her vast domain. |
