Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | Accreditation of work experience in France (2002-2008) : an unfinished innovation processThis field research, carried out in two different periods (2002-2003, then 2007-2008), studies the way in which the Accreditation of Work Experience (AWE) process has spread since its introduction in 2002 via the Law on Social Modernisation. Using the conceptual frame of the Sociology of Innovation and more especially from the Sociology of Translation, this work considers AWE as a potential innovation which goes much further than the systems which preceded in terms of recognition of experience. In the first period (2002-2003), it seemed in fact to have all the characteristics of an innovation in the making, since the various actors interviewed during the survey all expressed their interest and their judgment with regard to the system. The innovation was then in the “problematisation” phase, and AWE could be considered as a “boundary object” at the interface between several “social worlds”, generating “controversies” between the different actors involved in the network about five “obligatory points of passage”. However, four years later, APL has diverged from the standard process of a “successful” innovation : the problematisation phase was not followed by the “enrolment” phase, which could have linked together the various players and cemented the network. On the contrary, the network has broken apart into two sub-networks, one focusing on the candidates, the other on the firms. The price of the circulation of practice has been the neutralisation of the innovation and of its potential for transforming established practice. |
