| Summary, etc. | The locality of Juazeiro and other regions in the interior of Brazil have undergone profound transformations in recent years in relation to food production, distribution, and consumption. New consumer demands and new offers from increasingly complex food supply chains have brought dynamic interaction between different food systems to these localities. Through the analysis of political spaces where social actors engage in local food politics, conflicts, power relations, synergies, and hybridization can be observed, resulting from the interaction of food systems and influencing the population’s access to quality food. We argue that social participation in political spaces and the valuing of culture, which are features of a local food movement that has emerged at the intersection of distinct food systems, are the main empowering resources to promote access to quality food in the locality of Juazeiro. |

| Summary, etc. | La localidad de Juazeiro, al igual que otras regiones del interior de Brasil, han sufrido numerosas transformaciones en los últimos años en la producción, distribución y consumo de alimentos. Las nuevas demandas de los consumidores y las nuevas ofertas hechas posibles por formas cada vez más complejas de aprovisionamiento alimentario han conferido a estas localidades una interacción dinámica entre los diferentes sistemas alimentarios. A través del análisis de los espacios políticos, donde los actores se comprometen en estrategias sobre las problemáticas alimentarias, observamos la presencia de conflictos, de relaciones de poder, convergentes e híbridos, todos ellos resultantes de la interacción entre los sistemas alimentarios y que terminan influenciando el acceso de las personas a una alimentación de calidad. Nuestro argumento es que la participación social en los espacios políticos y la valorización de la cultura, dos características del movimiento alimentario local que surgió del cruce de sistemas alimentarios diferenciados, son los principales recursos de poder para la promoción del acceso a los alimentos de calidad en la localidad de Juazeiro. |
