Summary, etc. | Il est reconnu que la lecture contribue au développement scolaire et social de l’individu. Qui plus est, le rôle du parent dans l’accompagnement et la découverte de la lecture par son enfant est sans contredit nécessaire. Bien que de nombreux parents présentent de faibles habiletés en lecture, cela ne devrait pas les freiner dans le partage de la lecture avec leur enfant. À partir d’une recension théorique, cette contribution présente les caractéristiques de trois profils parentaux (sous ou peu scolarisés, allophones sous ou peu scolarisés et, scolarisés, mais qui présentent un niveau de littératie inférieur à 3). Elle présente aussi l’accompagnement que les milieux scolaire, parascolaire et communautaire peuvent offrir aux parents afin que chacun contribue au développement des habiletés en lecture-écriture de son enfant. |

Summary, etc. | The importance of reading in our societies can no longer be praised. We know its importance for academic and social development of the individual. We also recognize the essential role that the parent plays in supporting and discovering reading by their child. However, some parents have poor reading skills, but that shouldn’t stop them from sharing reading with their child. Based on a theoretical review, this contribution presents the characteristics of three parental profiles (under or little educated, allophones under or little educated and, educated but having a level of literacy lower than 3). Finally, this contribution also presents the support that the school, extracurricular and community environments can offer them so that each parent can contribute to the development of their child’s reading and writing skills. |
