| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article montre comment l’épouse du fromager est parvenue à se professionnaliser dans l’espace de travail réservé initialement à son mari. Sa reconnaissance professionnelle débute dans les années soixante-dix. La politique laitière engagée contraint tous les acteurs à de plus grandes exigences pour obtenir un produit de qualité. Les rôles et les fonctions de chacun évoluent. Au sein de l’atelier de fabrication, les places du fromager et de son épouse sont redéfinies : tandis que le premier perd de son autonomie et se trouve dans l’obligation de travailler avec les techniciens, la seconde se voit attribuer de nouvelles fonctions dans un espace qui lui est dorénavant réservé. Elle acquiert le statut de « salariée de son conjoint » et est alors reconnue comme « une professionnelle » exerçant des tâches distinctes de celles de son mari. |

| Summary, etc. | In this article we show how the cheese-maker’s wife managed to become a professional in a workspace initially reserved for her husband. Her professional recognition started in the 1970s. The dairy products policy adopted required an effort from all the participants in the production process to obtain quality products. The roles and functions of all evolved. Within the dairy, the roles of the cheese-maker and his wife were redefined: while the first lost his autonomy and had to work with technicians, the second was given new functions in what became her workspace. She became an “employee of her spouse” and became “a professional” with tasks that were quite separate from those of her husband. |
