Summary, etc. Le but de cette étude est de proposer une méthodologie originale pour étudier l’action d’un gardien de but de football face à un coup franc. Cette méthodologie se base sur des outils de réalité virtuelle (le gardien réel se trouve face à un tireur et un mur virtuels) offrant une liberté totale de mouvements afin d’avoir une interaction réaliste entre le gardien et le tireur. Les mouvements du gardien sont capturés en temps réel afin d’analyser de manière précise ses réactions au tir. Cette méthodologie permet d’avoir un outil de recherche pertinent mais également un outil d’entraînement. Dans cet article, elle a été utilisée pour démontrer que les gardiens étaient plus performants avec un mur composé de 5 joueurs quel que soit son positionnement.

Summary, etc. The purpose of this study is to propose an original methodology to study the action of a goalkeeper facing a free kick. This methodology is based on a virtual reality setup in which a real goalkeeper is facing a virtual player and a virtual defensive wall. The setup has been improved to provide a total freedom of movement to the goalkeeper in order to have a realistic interaction between the goalkeeper and the player. The goalkeeper’s movements are captured in real-time to accurately analyze his reactions. Such a methodology not only represents a valuable research tool but also provides a relevant training tool. Using this setup, this paper shows that goalkeepers are more performant during free kick with a wall composed of 5 defenders whatever its position.
