Psychic care refers to psychoanalysis, while therapeutic education refers to the cognitive-behavioral approach currently in vogue in child psychiatry. Psychic care is rooted in transference, while therapeutic education is rooted in the medical model. Breaking out of their natural opposition enables us to identify the tension inherent in the therapeutic relationship between method and transference. A clinical case illustrates this.
